John exhorts believers as to their Faith in and their Fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ. John teaches the believer a responsibility to put away sin and walk with Christ. This epistle teaches that we have a new nature that does not sin, and an old nature that continues to sin. When John wrote this letter, apostasy was widespread. There were false teachers in John’s day just as there are today. John alerts his readers to false teachers and their heresies. There were two main errors
